Floor Slab Cast
14 concrete mixers, and some amazing equipment saw the floor slab cast in one piece.
It was a mammoth effort, involving 12 people from 7am to 10pm. The floor slab is now complete, powerfloated, sealed and expansion gaps cut in.

More progress....
The yellow structure shown in the photo is the recessed bunded area for carrying out pressure test.
When complete, it will be covered with a heavy duty grate at floor level, allowing forklifts and trollies to position vessels directly over the bund. The bund will hold approx 4500 Litres of water, allowing low chloride water to be recovered and re-used with stainless steel vessels.
It should also prevent the inevitable spillages which often occur during pressure test and ensure that all manufacturing areas are kept dry in future.
Most of the floor insulation, DPM and reinforcing structure is now in place. The shuttering is all in position. The drains under the building are now being finalised so the floor slab can be poured next Tuesday.
